Malte – Malta

Malta’s artisans welcome you into their creative spaces
The Malta Crafts Foundation reaches out to various artisans, and also Municipalities, in order to create an interactive map full of artisans and activities. Artisans either place their studio on the map so that they can be located and visited by the public, and others opt to engage with their audiences by offering workshops, and passing on some of their skills to visitors. Municipalities promote artisans in their locality and assist in the promotion of this event in order to entice the public to participate in the activities available during these days.
As part of its participation in European Crafts Days, the Malta Crafts Foundation actively engages with artisans across Malta and Gozo to create a dynamic and interactive map showcasing craft experiences throughout the islands.
Artisans are invited to feature their studios on the map, making their spaces accessible to the public, while others further engage audiences by hosting workshops and sharing their skills and creative processes. This initiative offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover local craftsmanship firsthand.
In addition, the Malta Crafts Foundation will launch a series of courses across various crafts. Some of these will take place within the artisans’ own workshops, while others will be held at the workshop facilities of the Incubation Centre at Ta’ Qali Artisan Village.
Municipalities play an important role by promoting artisans within their localities and supporting outreach efforts, helping to encourage public participation and foster a deeper appreciation of Malta’s rich craft heritage during these celebratory days.
On the 12th April, the Region of Culture for 2026 – Port Regional Council will be collaborating with the Malta Crafts Foundation through the organisation of a large artisan market under the historic arches in the village of Floriana, just outside the capital, Valletta. Traditionally used as a marketplace, this space is being revitalised through the Floriana Local Council’s initiative. Combined with the spirit of European Crafts Days, it offers an ideal setting for the public to engage directly with artisans and experience Malta’s craft traditions in a vibrant and authentic environment.
